Why Would They do That?

This morning the phone rang and as is very often the case in our house both the phones were dead so we couldn't answer them, in fact we still can't find them! So I asked the kids to help me find the cordless phones to which Gabe responded "What's that"? I said "Our phone, you know that rings and we talk into it"? He then asked "What's cordless"? I answer "It means it doesn't have a cord connecting the phone to the wall" Gabe with a confused look on his face says "Why would they do that"?!!
